The short answer is no. CBD is a non-psychoactive, meaning “not effecting the mind, the mood, or other mental processes,” compound extracted from both hemp and marijuana plants. At CBDawgs we use Organic hemp-based CBD that is free of THC and is extracted using a clean CO2 and ethanol extraction method sourced from famers we trust and have personal relationships with. This means that your pup will receive clean and pure medicinal benefits with their state of mind remaining un-altered (your dog will not experience a high).
How Do I know Its Working?
Generally, we conduct an evaluation of our pet’s health based on an assessment of life quality. We judge how they are feeling based on their movements, the sounds they make, their energy levels, etcetera. Have they stopped groaning when they get off the floor? Do they seem to be moving with greater ease? Do they seem to have more energy then they previously did? Looking for improvements in all of these areas are the easiest ways to tell if CBD is positively affecting your fur babies.
How Do I know the Appropriate Dose?
According to the Portland Oregon Hawthorn Holistic Veterinary Clinic, veterinarian Dr. Robert Silver recommends using about 1mg CBD per kilogram body weight per day although, studies show that high doses of CBD oil (480mg/kg) are tolerated well in animal models (Bergamaschi, et al. 2011). All of our products are 3-10mg per serving in compliance with new regulations that require all CBD products to be a maximum of 10mg per serving as of 2018.
